Carbon fiber cloth is widely used in aerospace, automobile, sporting goods and shipbuilding due to its excellent properties such as high strength, light weight and corrosion resistance. Its manufacturing process is relatively complex and requires a series of specialized technologies and equipment. The following are the main manufacturing processes of carbon fiber cloth:

1. Fiber preparation

The manufacture of carbon fiber cloth begins with the preparation of carbon fiber. Polyacrylonitrile (PAN) or carbon fiber precursor fibers are usually used as raw materials. These fibers are processed by drawing, heating and oxidation to form high-strength and high-modulus carbon fibers.

2. Weaving and lamination

The manufacture of carbon fiber cloth involves weaving carbon fiber yarns into fabrics. This can be achieved through different weaving methods (such as plain weave, twill, hollow weave, etc.) to achieve different performance and appearance effects. After weaving, multiple layers of carbon fiber fabric can be laminated together to increase strength and stiffness.

3. Resin impregnation

In order to increase the strength of carbon fiber and protect the fiber, carbon fiber cloth is usually impregnated with resin. This process is called resin impregnation or impregnation. Commonly used resins include epoxy resin, polyester resin and phenolic resin. After impregnation, the carbon fiber cloth is cured to form a strong composite material.

4. Hot Pressing

After impregnation and curing, the carbon fiber cloth can be formed into the final shape by hot press molding. During the hot press molding process, the carbon fiber cloth is placed under heat and pressure to cure the resin and combine with the fibers to form the final part or component.

5. Cutting and Processing

After hot press molding, the carbon fiber cloth can be cut and processed. This may involve using cutting tools (such as knives or lasers) to accurately cut the carbon fiber cloth to obtain the desired shape and size. In addition, processing operations such as drilling, punching, grinding, etc. can also be performed.

Summary

The manufacturing and processing of carbon fiber cloth is a complex process that requires a high degree of expertise and equipment. Operators need to understand the material properties, process parameters and operating specifications to ensure the quality and performance of the final product. Therefore, for large-scale factories or professional manufacturers that produce carbon fiber cloth, they usually have relevant expertise and experience.
