Aramid application characteristics - for reinforcement

1. Non-conductive

In modern projects, such as subways, tunnels, electrified railways, industrial plants, etc., there are high requirements for insulation. In the reinforcement of these projects, aramid fiber has absolute advantages, which also provides the best choice.

2. Good corrosion resistance

Especially strong alkali corrosion resistance is unmatched by other FRP composite materials. Concrete structures corrode strongly in seawater, mainly because they contain more chloride ions, which cause carbonation of concrete and corrosion and expansion of steel bars. Therefore, in the reinforcement and protection of some seaport and wharf projects, aramid fiber is the best choice.

3. Good impact resistance

Since the elastic modulus of aramid fiber is 118Gpa, the ductility is particularly good, and the elongation rate is 1.8%, so it was originally used as a military product abroad, such as body armor. It is used to strengthen some structures that have strict impact requirements, such as piers in main channels.

4. Good resistance to dynamic load and fatigue resistance

Although carbon fiber has high tensile strength, it can only withstand long-term static loads because it is a brittle material. If it is subjected to dynamic load for a long time, its strength cannot be guaranteed. Aramid fibers are not subject to this limitation. It was mainly used in military products in the early days and was the main material of body armor. Due to its good toughness, its corresponding fatigue resistance is very good. In addition, the shear resistance of aramid fiber is also the strongest among all FRP materials.

5. Convenient construction

There are mainly the following steps, surface treatment-priming paint-bottom impregnated resin-attached aramid cloth-outer impregnated resin-surface protection, the operation is very simple. There is no need for large lifting machinery and equipment, and generally no chamfering. The chamfering of the square column only needs 10 ram, because aramid fiber is an organic material, which has good wettability with the resin, and the curing time is very short. It only takes a few hours, compared to one to two weeks for similar other fibers.
